Laps for Lincoln:  Friday night was a wonderful celebration to end our Laps for Lincoln Fundraiser.  Your generous support impacts our students in so many positive ways.  Thank you, thank you, thank you for your donations to our school!  

Parent Teacher Conference Scheduling:  I appreciate those of you who have been able to sign up for a conference time.  If you have not been able to select a day and time yet, please click on this link and select a time that works best for you as soon as possible.

Word Work: This week your child will be learning words that have the long-a digraph pattern.  This rule includes words like brain, weight, tray, and whey.   The words can be found on Spelling City to practice.  Please remember to use the list that comes home to practice reading words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list.

Math: Our second graders have been discussing the connection between addition and subtraction facts within 20.  They have been practicing finding the missing addend going through 10 and playing games.  Students can practice finding sums to 10 by playing Fishing for Ten using an ordinary deck of cards.

Reading: Students are learning to analyze characters by using illustrations and text. Please continue your nightly reading routine and have your child select adjectives that describe a character and tell why the adjective was chosen.
