Word Work: Our class will be learning about irregular plurals such as words like children, wolves, and pianos this week. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the Unit 20 practice list for the week.

Author Visit:  This month our district will host author and illustrator, Peter H. Reynolds, for a virtual visit to our elementary schools! Peter will read a story, do a directed drawing, talk with us about creativity, writing, and making your mark!  We are excited to meet this incredible author on Monday, March 25th from 8:45 - 9:30 a.m.

In Math:  During the last two weeks, we have been working on time and money.  In a day of digital clocks and cashless transactions, these skills are not as strong as in the past.  Time is important as in the next few years, students will be working with elapsed time in story problems.  Without the foundation of telling time on an analog clock, these math lessons will be difficult.  With money, it is critical that students can identify coin values as well as sort and count a pile of mixed coins.   From this skill they will again be working with money within the context of story problems.  Thank you for your help in reinforcing these skills at home.  Let me know if you have any questions.

SEL: Please take a few moments to read Ms. VonBehrenś SEL News: Self Awareness K-2

Library Books:  Please help your child remember to return or renew his/her library books before spring break.
