Word Work: Our class will continue learning about the r-controlled syllable pattern -ar this week. Words that follow this pattern include car, start, artist, and market. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.

Holiday Breakfast: Mark your calendars for the Lincoln Holiday Breakfast on Dec. 2nd!  The morning is open-house style, so come anytime between 9-11:00.  There will be a pancake breakfast, a holiday craft for students, and the Bookfair will be open to shop in the Media Center.   There is no cost for this event, we just ask that you RSVP by clicking here so that we can get a headcount for food.

Word Work : This week your child will learn words that have the long-o digraph pattern.  This rule includes words like moon, snow, bowl, soak, and hoe.   The words can be found on Spelling City to practice.  Please remember to use the list that comes home to practice reading words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list. Math: This week we will be starting Math Unit 2.  We will be adding and subtracting within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and the relationship between addition and subtraction.
