Word Work: Our class will learn words that follow the long e digraph syllable pattern this week and next week.  Long e digraph syllable patterns use the following vowel teams ie, ea, and ee. The following words are examples of this pattern chief, stream, and sneeze.  Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to practice the long e digraph word list.


Conferences:  Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to meet with me to discuss your child.  Please send me an email if you have questions or concerns about our conference. If you have not had a conference, I have some openings on Tuesday (link to schedule) or you can let me know a time that works for you.


Halloween Party: Thank you to all who have volunteered to help and/or send in supplies for our party.  The students are looking forward to this celebration. Students may wear their costumes all day and we will have an all school costume parade outside on the blacktop at 3:15.   If it is raining, the outside parade will be canceled.

Word Work : This week your child will learn words that have the long-o digraph pattern.  This rule includes words like moon, snow, bowl, soak, and hoe.   The words can be found on Spelling City to practice.  Please remember to use the list that comes home to practice reading words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list.
