Word Work: Our class will continue learning words that follow the long e digraph syllable pattern this week.  Long e digraph syllable patterns use the following vowel teams ie, ea, and ee. The following words are examples of this pattern chief, stream, and sneeze.  Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to practice the long e digraph word list.


Math:  Our second graders are working on mastering their addition and subtraction facts through 20.  Directions for the game, Salute can be found here or in our Google Classroom under Classwork.  The only materials needed for this game is a deck of cards.  This game is a fun way to practice those facts with family members.


Halloween Party: Thank you to all who have volunteered to help and/or send in supplies for our party.  The students are looking forward to this celebration. Students may wear their costumes all day and we will have an all school costume parade outside on the blacktop at 3:15.   If it is raining, the outside parade will be canceled.

Word Work : This week your child will learn words that have the long-o digraph pattern.  This rule includes words like moon, snow, bowl, soak, and hoe.   The words can be found on Spelling City to practice.  Please remember to use the list that comes home to practice reading words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list.
