Weekly Update
Week of January 22, 2024
Word Work: Our class will be learning about the /ou/ syllable pattern this week. Our syllable pattern makes the sound as in count, town, and countdown. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.
NWEA: Our second graders continue to take the math and reading portions of NWEA. Please continue to have your child get plenty of rest each night and eat a healthy breakfast each day.
Science and Culture Night: Science & Culture Night will be January 31st from 6-8pm. Students (must be accompanied by an adult) get to experience three 25 minute presentations, which range from hands-on art lessons to learning about animals to experiencing power first-hand! We also hope to fill the hallways with tables displaying different cultures of our very own Lincoln Families. We would love to display as many family cultures during the evening as possible and we are also looking for a few more presenters for our 25 min. mini sessions. If you're interested in hosting a cultural table, a Science presentation, or would just like to find out more please contact Catherine Kirshenbaum at catherinebkirshenbaum@gmail.com.
Valentine's Day: Valentine's Day is quickly approaching. Thank you so much to Jessica Smith for volunteering to be the party chairperson. Please know that passing out Valentine cards is optional. We will make the containers for the Valentines at school so there is no need to bring in any containers from home. Finally, I have posted the class list on the blog. It can be found after this weekly update. Let me know if you have any questions.
