Word Work: Our class will be learning about the /oo/ syllable pattern for the next two weeks. Our syllable pattern makes the sound as in blue, moon, youth.    Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.

Science and Culture Night:  Yay, Science & Culture Night is this Wednesday from 6-8pm. Students (must be accompanied by an adult) get to experience three 25 minute presentations, which range from hands-on art lessons to learning about animals to experiencing power first-hand! We hope to see you there!

Word Work : This week your child will learn words that have the long-o digraph pattern.  This rule includes words like moon, snow, bowl, soak, and hoe.   The words can be found on Spelling City to practice.  Please remember to use the list that comes home to practice reading words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list. Math: This week we will be starting Math Unit 2.  We will be adding and subtracting within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and the relationship between addition and subtraction.
