WORD WORK: This week our class will be learning about adding the prefix un- to words as in the words unhappy, undone, and unfair.  Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to access the Unit 27 practice list for the week.  


WHAT’S FOR LUNCH:   We are going to Kiwanis Park on May 28th.  In order to provide our lunch staff plenty of time for ordering food, we sent home the lunch forms last week.  If your child will be having the school pack them a lunch and you did not return a form last week, please email me.  


MUSIC PERFORMANCE   Yay, our program is this week!  The performance will take place at the high school at 5:00.  Mrs. Mileham has shared this website with us to help students practice their songs and their parts.Go Fish!  We can’t wait to see you there between 4:30 and 4:45 to get ready! Please let us know if your child will not be attending in the evening. Each child has lines and we have to reassign their lines to another child.

SJ FIELD TRIP: FRIDAY MAY 24th  9:00 – 12:30

Lincoln’s three second grade classes will be visiting the Silver Beach Carousel, touring historical sites on the bluff, and watching the Memorial Day Parade.  The trip will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the carousel and conclude after the parade at approximately 12:30 p.m.  The district will be paying for our second graders to ride the carousel twice.  Thank you, SJPS! 


Lunch will be at school during our normal 1:00 p.m. time.


**PARENTS ARE WELCOME to attend our field trip.  We ask no siblings to attend the carousel and bluff walk.  This is a special time for our second grade students to learn about our community.  Parents may meet us with siblings at the parade site.  We usually find seating in front of the War Memorials (across from the Boulevard Hotel) on the bluff side of the street.

Word Work : This week your child will learn words that have the long-o digraph pattern.  This rule includes words like moon, snow, bowl, soak, and hoe.   The words can be found on Spelling City to practice.  Please remember to use the list that comes home to practice reading words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list.
