The following words are examples of this pattern chief, stream, and sneeze.  Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to practice the long e digraph word list. Word Work : This week your child will learn words that have the long-o digraph pattern.  This rule includes words like moon, snow, bowl, soak, and hoe.   The words can be found on Spelling City to practice.  Please remember to use the list that comes home to practice reading words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list. Math: This week we will be starting Math Unit 2.  We will be adding and subtracting within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and the relationship between addition and subtraction.
