Word Work: Our class will be learning the -r controlled e, i, and u syllable pattern this week. Our syllable pattern will show up in words like learn, girl, turn.  Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.


Winter Parties

We are looking forward to our winter party happening on December 22nd.  The party will start after lunch at 1:40 and last an hour.  We do not have a parent heading this up so my thought is to run it similar to the Halloween party where we will have a snack station and then 3 stations that are crafts or games. Let me know if you are interested in hosting and what supplies you will need. I can then send out a Sign Up Genius requesting food and materials. Thank you for the help!

*Many of you are used to our ice skating taking place in December.  This year it has been moved to January 18th & 19th.  Stay tuned for more information as we receive it.

Word Work : This week your child will learn words that have the long-o digraph pattern.  This rule includes words like moon, snow, bowl, soak, and hoe.   The words can be found on Spelling City to practice.  Please remember to use the list that comes home to practice reading words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list.
